Shortly after a successful launch,Marvel Rivalsis already receiving fixes for some of the game’s most pressing bugs, fixing many of the issues that were impacting an otherwise smooth initial release. Developed and published by NetEase Games,Marvel Rivalshas very quickly become one of the most popular games in its genre, competing with other popular hero shooters likeOverwatch 2. However, while the game has had a successful launch, there are still some issues to address.

As announced on theMarvel Rivalswebsite, the game has received its first major patch, which fixes many ofRivals' most well-known technical issues. These include fixes for some common crash issues, freezes, and a few notable gameplay bugs, such as issues with the ultimate abilities for Black Widow and Captain America. Notably, a memory leak issue has been fixed on the PC, and the patch does not include any balance changes for heroes, which will presumably come in a later update.

The First Major Patch For Marvel Rivals Fixes Crashes And Clipping Issues

Only four days after the game’s initial release,Marvel Rivalshad a quick turnaround for its first patch, which hopefully means that players can expect similarly speedy updates to address the game’s remaining issues. Most notably, the patch aims to address players getting stuck or clipping through geometry on certain maps, with the patch notes specifically singling out Hell’s Heaven and Symbiotic Surface, though the preamble to the patch notes does state that “further adjustments may still be needed to fully resolve the issue”.

Marvel Rivals has already impressed with its superhero gameplay, but the way it looks to handle microtransactions may be its most heroic feature.

Outside pressing technical issues like crashes and freezes, most of the update’s other changes are relatively small. The only change to affect a specific hero’s balancing, for example, is that terrain KOs from Doctor Strange’s portals no longer restore energy for him, though the patch notes also promise more changes to this issue in the future. Other changes from the patch mostly include relatively minor bug fixes, and bigger issues are likely to be addressed in a later patch.

Marvel Rivals Still Has Issues For Future Updates To Address

Some Major Issues Still Remain After Marvel Rivals' First Patch

However, despite arelatively smooth launchand a quick turnaround on its first patch,Marvel Rivalsstill has a few notable issues, some of which haven’t been addressed by the most recent patch. Players onReddit, responding to the patch notes, have noted that they are still experiencingcrashes, freezes, and significant FPS drops when a specific ability, Doctor Strange’s portal, is used. The game’s optimization also seemed to be a common pain point, with some players noting poor performance regardless of settings.

Moreover, while players and developers may want to let the game settle before any significant balance changes are made, players have called out some heroes, most notably Iron Fist, as being especially overpowered, something which was not addressed by the most recent patch. Hopefully, future updates forMarvel Rivalswill be able to iron out more of the game’s most pressing issues, and the game will cement itself as a mainstay of the hero shooter genre.
