The first image from theSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowset has raised a major question, but theDC Universehas already provided a possible answer to it.House of the Dragonstar Milly Alcock will lead the second movie in theDCU’s slate of projects. After James Gunn’s Superman movie finished filming,Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrowupdatesstarted to emerge. WithJason Momoa now in DC as Lobo, not Aquaman, and a full cast of DC characters, the new Supergirl movie started filming this January.

The character might lead her first DCU project with the film, butAlcock’s Supergirl is reportedly set to appear before that in Gunn’sSuperman. DC has yet to officially confirm the news. However, the move would make sense, allowing DC to establish Supergirl’s relationship with her cousin and Krypto, with the latter set to play a key role inSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.Supermancould also showcase Supergirl’s costume, which has become a topic of debate after the first look at theupcoming DCU movieteased a possible suit change, which a DC detail suggests might not happen after all.

The First Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow Set Photo Revealed A Key Change

The Girl Of Steel Follows A DCU Superman Choice

On Twitter, James Gunn revealed thefirst look at Milly Alcock on the set ofSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. While it did not show much of what is in store for the DCU movie, the photo did tease that Supergirl is taking after her cousin. On the chair Alcock is sitting is the Supergirl logo, and it features a change from the comics. Check out theofficialSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowset photobelow:

Supergirl’s logo is similar to the one David Corenswet’s Superman wears on his suit. Inspired by the Kingdom Come comics, there are changes from the classic House of El crest design. However, Supergirl’s even features changes in comparison to the DCU Superman.Instead of being red and yellow like Superman’s, Supergirl’s symbol is red and dark blue. This has led to speculation that her costume would be darker than Supergirl’s classic suit in theSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowcomics. However, the DCU has already shown that might not be the case.

The DCU Already Showed How Supergirl Can Have Her Classic Costume

The Character Has Appeared In The DCU

While Supergirl will only make her formal debut with Milly Alcock as the hero in eitherSupermanorSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, the character has already appeared in the DCU.Supergirl had a non-speaking role in the animatedCreature Commandos. The character was one of the deceased heroes shown in a dark vision of the future that was stopped from happening by the Creature Commandos. In her animated appearance, Supergirl was not only donning her bright superhero costume, but specifically the one from theSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowcomics.

While her symbol might be darker in the new DCU set photo, it seems like her suit could still keep most of its classic design. Interestingly,Supergirl was impaled right on her chest, so most of her suit was visible, but not her “S” symbol. James Gunn has said that while some characters who appeared in theCreature Commandossequence will have different designs in live-action, others are pretty close to how they will look. Given how her suit is a dead ringer for theSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowcomic book costume, Supergirl’s might be part of the latter.
