Fan favorite Spider-Punk has a newSpider-Manvariant out for his title as cool tough guy - and he’s into heavy metal. In a new cover from artist Corin Howell, Metal Spider-Man (Spider-Metal?) is wearing ripped clothes, spikes, dripping eyeliner, and has brought two friends along for the ride: Thor, anda very nervous Captain America.
In Marvel’s November solicitations, it’s revealed thatCaptain America#15 will feature the second part of the “The New Warriors Three” story by J. Michael Straczynski and Jesús Saíz. The story features the epic threesome of Thor, Spider-Man, and Cap investigating Broxton, Oklahoma to understand what in the town is drawing them there. What they find may betoo horrifying for even their power to overcome, and based on this variant cover by Corin Howell, that experience might include dragging Steve Rogers to his first heavy metal show.

“The New Warriors Three” Part Two!
J. Michael Straczynski revisits Thor and Spider-Man! When Captain America, Spidey and Thor find themselves drawn to Broxton, Oklahoma, the trio will have to work together to find what’s drawn them to the ruined town – and site of Thor’s greatest shame. But what they find may prove too horrifying for even the greatest of heroes to overcome…
Captain America is a man out of time, though he tries new experiences to bring him up to speed on modern culture. A heavy metal concert might be a bit too overwhelming, even for the super soldier.

Captain America Adds Metal To His Pop Culture Catch-Up List
After being frozen for a few decades, Cap has a lot of history to learn, and things to try. He’s had some hits and misses in his pop culture catch-up, notablyhating one Brad Pitt movie. But heavy metal doesn’t necessarily seem like something that would jump to the top of his list, and, in the cover art, he looks scared to death. In a subtle character touch, while Spidey and Thor are throwing up devil horns with their hands, Steve keeps his thumb facing out when he does it -the sign for “I love you” in American Sign Language.
This clearly wasn’t Steve’s idea, meaning either Peter Parker or Thor decided to take their friends out for a wild night. Heavy metal is big in Scandanavia, and they often reference Norse mythology, something Thor is very familiar with. Alternately, Peter might have wanted to try to beas cool as Spider-Punkand figured his friends would come along for the ride. It’s unclear if this art is in any way part of the story in issue #15, but hopefully it appears, as this would bea great moment of camaraderiebetween the three heroes.

Spider-Metal Would Be a Great Addition to the Spider-Verse
The new Spider-Society has a great round-up of multiversal Spider-heroes, and a heavy metal-themed Spider-Man (or Spider-Woman) would be a fun addition to the crew. While there might be some aesthetic crossover with Spider-Punk, heavy metal has many of its own looks and tropes. They could be more muscular and bulky than other Spider-heroes, who are usually a bit more lithe;thinkMetalocalypsein spider masks. They could have an extra vocal metal scream voice power, likeAggretsuko. There are always new universes to explore, andHeavy Metal Spider-Mancould be waiting in any of them.
