The Lincoln Lawyer is smart to mix up the show’s formula
Novels and TV shows are two very different mediums and live-action adaptations often require serious tweaking to work. Jack Reacher might say very little in the Lee Child books, for example, but he’s considerably more verbose in Amazon’s show. Connolly’sLincoln Lawyerbooks feature Mickey’s own internal narration and his thoughts on both the present day and the past. The TV version obviously drops this, but at leastwith the season 3 flashbacks, viewers will get a glimpse into what Mickey’s life used to be.
The Lincoln Lawyerflashbacks will be all the more poignant too, knowing how Maggie and Haller’s relationship ends. This alone justifies some changes being made toThe Gods of Guiltand will give non-book readers more of an insight into Haller’s past. Just how much these flashbacks will dig up is another question.
