Marketing is finally underway, with an initial first trailer forAndorseason 2 releasing just last week.

It features several interviews that have already been teased on StarWars.com, but also shows some new footage of major civil unrest, the rebels working to steal a prototype TIE Avenger, and even hints of Mon Mothma in the Galactic Senate. Most excitingly, though,the subtitles confirm crowds involved in the civil unrest are chanting in a language called “Ghor.”

Protestors opposing punitive Imperial taxation attempted to prevent Captain WIlhuff Tarkin’s ship landing; he simply landed on them, killing them, with implied permission from Palpatine. In Legends, this was the event that led Mon Mothma to realize legal methods were insufficient to defeat the Empire.

Personally, I was convinced the unrest shown inAndorseason 2 was tied to the Ghorman Massacre; it looks as though I’m right. What’s more, it seems Cassian Andor will be on the ground.
Andor Season 2 Is A Vital Chapter In The Rebellion’s Story
This Is The Rebel Alliance Story I’ve Always Wanted To See
Andorseason 1 focused in on Cassian’s personal story of rebellion, while also setting up the broader narrative of the different rebel cells. It laid the tracks, andAndorseason 2 is the juggernaut, showing how these disparate cells come together to form the Rebel Alliance. The scale is very different, as proven by the inclusion of the Ghorman Massacre. Looking at the footage so far,this seems to have been styled after a real historic event; the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre.
I can’t help feeling thatAndorseason 2 is being positioned as essential viewing forStar Warsfans. It’s the journey toRogue One, and from there, to the very firstStar Warsmovie. Even more excitingly, three episodes will release every week for a block of four weeks - essentially meaning we’re getting a new movie every week. This couldn’t be more thrilling.
