Summary

A newPokémonFuecoco Squishmallows has just been announced, alongside another fan-favorite creature from the Generation 9 games. Squishmallows are a popular brand of plush dolls, known for being soft and cute. This is not the first time creatures of the franchise have been adapted into the brand of toys.Snorlax and TogepiPokémonSquishmallowswere released in 2023, and several others have arrived afterward, for example. Now, two more options are arriving, which will be particularly attractive to fans of the Gen 9 titles,Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

As seen on the officialPokémon Centerwebsite,Fuecoco, the Fire-type starter from the region of Paldea, is one of the newPokémonSquishmallows to be released. The plush doll puts Fuecoco into a rounded body with no legs or arms (the arms are illustrated on the body). The other new Pokémon Squishmallows, also shown on thePokémon Centerwebsite, is Bellibolt. As is the case with the Fuecoco product, the Bellibolt Squismallows also portrays the Gen 9 Pokémon with a well-rounded body.

Fuecoco & Bellibolt Pokémon Squishmallows Are Announced

The Two Creatures Make Perfect Sense For The Collab

As can be seen on the Pokémon Center website, both the Fuecoco and the Bellibolt Squishmallows are now available for pre-order. The products cost $29.99 each. The items are expected to ship in mid-September 2024, though a more precise release window is not yet available. Each of these Gen 9 Pokémon Squishmallows is 12 inches high and 10 inches wide. The plush dolls are officially licensed and, to showcase that, they both have an embroidered Pokémon Center Poké Ball logo on the back, representing the fact that they are authenticPokémonproducts.

The Gen 9 games introduced over 100 new creatures to the larger roster that now towers over 1.000 Pokémon. Out of these, Fuecoco and Bellibolt were chosen to become Squishmallows. This is no coincidence. In the games, both these creatures naturally have rounded bodies and they match the essence of the Squishmallows, which are represented by rounded plush dolls. Any Pokémon with long arms or legs or too many details to the designs of their bodies would have been a lot more difficult to adapt into Squishmallows.

The collaboration between the classic Nintendo franchise and Squishmallows has proven to be a successful one, with several releases over the past few years. Recently, the Gen 1 fan-favorite creature Gengar became a plush doll. It is likely more Gen 9 creatures and some from previous generations will also be adapted into these products as time moves forward and closer to theleaked Gen 10Pokémongames.
