FollowingHorizon Zero Dawn Remastered’s leak,a new report claims thatPlayStationis working on yet another revamped first-party title much to fans' chagrin.HZD Remasteredhas been rumored for several years at this point with many falsely predicting that it would be released for PlayStation 5 shortly before the debut of its sequelHorizon Forbidden West. Since that didn’t pan out, consumers now believe Sony is attempting to repackage the older title, but it seems that there’s something else in the works too.

Over on YouTube, journalist and insiderJeff Grubbdiscussed PlayStation’s strategy when it comes to reviving relatively recent titles, noting thathe’s heard that the publisher is working on a “less exciting remaster” that’s notHorizon Zero Dawn.

There’s no further word on the project but the hint has sent the PlayStation community into a frenzy of speculation as fans try to figure out what game could return. Many optimistically believe it to beBloodbornebut given how long players have begged for such a remaster, that seems very unlikely to be “less exciting.”

What Else Could PlayStation Remaster?

Whatever It Is, It’s Smaller Than Horizon

Even though the game has yet to be officially announced, the PlayStation community has widely rejected the idea ofHorizon Zero Dawn Remasteredso identifying a project that could result in even less hype is difficult. Some popular suggestions includeDays Gone, an open-world zombie game that didn’t resonate with playersasmuch as Sony hoped it would. Others believeGod of War(2018) could be another contender, but this is all speculation until such a time as PlayStation makes some kind of announcement.

PlayStation has earned a reputation for relying heavily on remastering recent games as a means to pad its console libraries. The Last of Us Part Iwas the most recent example of this asthe upgraded version didn’t do enough to justify a full-priced re-release, prompting consumers to accuse Sony of simply repackaging older titles.Marvel’s Spider-Manis another example of a game that was Remastered for PlayStation but the result was an almost identical experience.

Horizon Zero Dawn Being Pulled From PS Plus Might Be Good News In Disguise

Although Horizon Zero Dawn is slated to be pulled from the PS Plus catalog in May, its removal might mean the confirmation of a longstanding rumor.

Whatever the mysteryPlayStationremaster ends up being, players are becoming increasingly tired of the strategy. As therequests to releaseBloodborneon PCand PlayStation 5 increase in volume, the constant return to games that don’t need the remaster treatment is frustrating. If anything,Horizon Zero Dawnsimply needs a free update to run smoother on PS5 so an entirelyseparate release feels superfluous.
