The latest Research Day is set to take place inPokémon GOfeaturing theGeneration 5 Pokémon Yamask and its Galarian regional variant. One of the regular events inPokémon GOalongside the Spotlight Hoursare the Research Days which features a certain Pokémon. Normally, Field Research tasks offer a variety of rewards, including Pokémon spawns or useful items. However, on Research Days, all the rewards are spawns of the featured Pokemon.
Yamask is a creepy Ghost-type Pokémonthat is worth Trainers trying to capture. Galarian Yamask is even more valuable, especially for those who take part in PvP Battles. Its evolved form, Runerigus, is a great option for both the Great League, meaning you should try to catch as strong a version of it as possible during the research day.

How To Encounter Yamask & Galarian Yamask
Complete Field Research Tasks To Earn Encounters
As the name suggests, the Yamask Research Day provides you with a host of Field Research tasks that you may use to catch both the normal and Galarian forms. You can obtain these Field Research tasksby spinning PokéStops or Gym Discs during the event, with each one that you spin giving you a new task to complete.
Pokémon GO: How To Unlock & Level Up Max Moves
Unlocking and upgrading Max Moves in Pokémon GO is vital for some of the harder Max Battles, and you can do this with enough Candy and Max Particles.
The individual tasks require players to complete challenges, such as to catch a certain number of Pokémon or spin a set number of PokéStops. Once you have completed one, you will be rewarded with the opportunity to catch either Yamask or Galarian Yamask.

Both Yamask and Galarian Yamask have a chance of being found in their Shiny forms after completing the Field Research tasks.
The event-exclusive Field Research tasks are available to all trainers inPokémon GO, but additionally, there is a paid-for set of Timed Research which you can buy and then complete. This will give players further opportunities to catch either Yamask or Galarian Yamask. Trainers still also have thechance to catch Dynamax Falinksas a Max Raid Boss.

On top of being able to encounter Yamask and Galarian Yamask, there is alsoa host of additional Pokémon, that will spawn more frequently in the wild during the event.

Rock/Steel
There are five Pokémon that have increased spawn rates during the event. This includes Gen 1 favorite Ground-type Cubone, as well as both versions, normal and Galarian, of Gen 3’s Zigzagoon. Fellow Gen 3 Pokémon Ghost- type Duskull and Gen 4 Rock/Steel-type Shieldon can also be found more frequently than normal.
All five of the Pokémon with increased spawns during the event have the possibility of appearing as their Shiny version, although they won’t have boosted odds, so they’ll be very hard to find.

Cosmetic Items Available In The Shop
On top of the Field Research tasks and the featured spawns, there are further incentives for you to playPokémon GOduring theYamask Research Day Event.There are new cosmetic items available in the in-game shop, either for the first time or appearing as a featured item. This includes the debuting Lucario Mask. Yamask Research Day gives you the chance to catch a large number of two unique Pokémon, as well as their shiny versions inPokémon GO.
