Squid Gameseason 2 set up the return of some major characters from the first season, and nowSquid Gameseason 3 needs to resolve the story by bringing them back. Squid Game is one of the biggest shows on Netflix of all time. The series debuted in 2021, and despite being an original South Korean production, the show became a global sensation that got fans around the world talking about the intense cruelty and absurd nature of these games which forced adults to play children’s games with a fatal twist.

The show had a compelling arc asGi-hun made his way through each round, seeing hundreds of other contestants gunned down, exterminated, and kicked from the games. However, as the series progressed, it became clear that the pink guards were not the only villains. Behind the pink guards stood the intimidating, cold and calculating Front Man, and guiding his actions, there was aneven more powerful threat from people who refused to get their hands dirty.

Squid Game Season 3 Will Have To Bring Back The VIPs For The Final Few Games

Squid Game 3 Will Wrap Up The Latest Round Of The Games

The VIPs were a set of wealthy, gluttonous spectators who remained in the shadows. Watching from an observation platform where they could see the brutal events unfold, as they indulged in any excess that they desired. And of course, to preserve and protect their identities from the people serving them and fulfilling their every whim and wish, theVIPs wore gold masks which resemble different animals. And in season 1, these characters did not make an appearance until the bridge game, where players needed to guess which platforms would bring them safely across the wide gap.

Squid Game: Why Did The Front Man Join the Games as Player 001?

The Front Man is one of Squid Game’s most iconic characters, and in season two, he takes a more direct role in the games — but why?

IfSquid Gameseason 3 follows the same pattern around the layout of the games, then it is likely that the VIPs will show up during the next game, in order to observe the final few rounds. Whether they have already been watching up to this point, or if they only came to observe the last games in person is unknown, but itmakes sense for the VIPs to show up early in season 3, as the latest set of games is just halfway through their events.

Squid Game Season 3 Could Finally Unmask The VIPs In A Major Twist

The VIPs Are Pulling The Strings In Squid Game

During season 2,Squid Gamerevealed much more of the inner workings of the games than in the first season. By featuring one character who is working as a pink guard, and seeing the Front Man join the games undercover as 001 to get close to the other contestants, the inner workings are less hidden in this outing. However, theVIPs remain one part of the story which has yet to have significant reveals, despite these characters appearing to be one of the biggest driving forces behind the games' existence and persistence.

IfSquid Gameseason 3 is to resolve the story in its final outing, exposing the VIPs is an essential step to concluding the narrative. If that means unmasking these wealthy brutes, or broadcasting their cruelty and frivolity to the wider world, then it should be done tactfully in a way that will not undermine the spin-off shows, but provide closure for characters like Gi-hun and the other players who have been forced tocompete for their lives and the pleasure and entertainment of the VIPs. Due to theupcomingSquid Gamespin-offs, it does appear that the show could go either way in terms of revealing the VIPs' identities, but season 3 still needs to acknowledge them.

Jun-ho Can Finally Get His Revenge Against The VIPs In Squid Game Season 3

One of the most important arguments for why the VIPs need to return toSquid Gameseason 3 is because the characters involved in the first season have a score to settle. Gi-hun has obviously suffered at the hands of the VIPs, but one other character had direct interactions with these vile characters. Jun-hu, the detective who is searching for his brother, the Front Man,disguised himself as a pink guard in season 1, and in this capacity, he found himself serving the VIPs at one point.

Squid Game star Park Gyu-young offers a preview of her character’s return in season 3 after her introduction in the second installment.

However, the VIPs do not have any respect or boundaries for the people serving them, and rather than treat them kindly or with respect, they choose to berate and play with these people for their own pleasure. In this capacity, Jun-ho was sexually harassed by one of the VIPs, which surely caused him to have hatred towards them. When he does find the island, it is likely that Jun-ho and his team of highly skilled fighters will attempt to capture and possibly dole out justice against these vile characters. But thatremains to be seen inSquid Gameseason 3.
