Squid Game: Unleashed’s trailer opens with what is arguably the most famous ofall the games inSquid Game’s first season: Red Light, Green Light. Players can be seen dodging traffic like inFrogger, pushing each other off platforms and into lava, and dodging giant, swinging piggy banks as they run across glass panels similar to those seen in the show’s Glass Stepping Stones competition. ASquid Gamevideo game adaptation certainly has potential, especially considering the prominence of battle royale games and the success ofFall Guys, but its release strategy may hamper it. Being apparently exclusive to mobile platforms isn’t an issue in itself, but also being tied to the Netflix app, and by extension, a subscription, drastically pares down its potential player base. Netflix has been involved in the gaming industry for quite some time, butSquid Game: Unleashedmay be its best hope for massive success yet, considering the name recognition.
