Today’s free update aims to fix that by adding a faster, more interactive way for players to traverse long distances: land rovers.The REV-8 is a sort of all-terrain vehicle for the space age; it’s seen drifting through dunes, running over ridges, and skiffing over snow on various planets throughout the known galaxy. It can carry the player character and a single companion anywhere their adventures take them.

Besides helping players get from point A to point B,the REV-8 is also a combat vehicle. It sports a mounted turret for on-the-go firing, and is also armored to increase the player’s defense while driving around. The REV-8 also comes with a set of boosters, which can both increase its speed and allow it to jump over small obstacles. It can be claimed in-game by installing the REV-8 ship module at any ship service technician, after which it’ll automatically appear wherever the player lands their ship.
The freeStarfieldupdate will also come with more adjustable frame rate settings, performance-focused or visuals-focused graphics profiles, and a VSync setting.

Set in the year 2310, the United Colonies and Freestar Collective are observing a shaky truce after a war set 20 years prior. The player will customize their character as a member of a space exploration team called Constellation while navigating The Settled Systems and the conflicts between the warring factions. According to Bethesda, players can explore over 100 systems and 1000 planets to find resources and build their ships, living out their own sci-fi journeys.
