Teacup Has Been Cancelled After Just One Season By Peacock

The Show Was Well-Received, But Didn’t Dominate Viewership Charts

Nearly three months after the show left audiences with a multitude of questions,Teacuphas found itself cancelled. Developed by Ian McCulloch and inspired by Robert McCammon’sStinger, the horror show revolved around a group of people in an isolated area of rural Georgia as they find themselves trapped in a blue circle drawn around one family’s ranch with the warning not to trust anyone or cross the line. Starring Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman and Chaske Spencer, among others, the showgarnered generally positive reviews from critics andleft the door open forTeacupseason 2.

Varietyhas brought word thatTeacupseason 2 will not be moving forward at Peacock. The news comes after the Halloween-released season 1 finale left audiences on a major cliffhanger regarding the main group’s next steps after having successfully escaped the blue circle. Though no exact explanation has been given by the streamer for the cancellation, the publication does point out that the show never cracked the Nielsen Top 10 during its time on the air, in spite of having gotten largely positive reviews from critics.

There Are A Lot Of Unanswered Questions

Warning: SPOILERS lie ahead for Teacup season 1!

Though the finale did at least see the majority of the group escape their ordeal and venture beyond the blue circle, theTeacupseason 1 finalecertainly left a lot of unanswered questions to be explored in future seasons. The most notable of them is the group being confronted by mysterious figures, Hayden and Izzy, who tell the survivors to obey their instructions, and they will help guide them to the location where Harbinger, while possessing Arlo, has marked as the spot of a machine that will help stave off a larger invasion.

Additionally, the ending seemingly hints at there being many of the alien trees seen near the Chenoweth family’s ranch throughout the American Northeast, alluding to the potential of other traps for the group to encounter in future seasons ofTeacup.Though the exact future of the show was always in doubt prior to the premiere, asMcCulloch even toldScreenRantthat he did “have some ideas”, though had not fully begun development on a season 2 arc. With Peacock now having scrapped the show, it will be interesting to see if he shares what his ideas were online at some point.
