Summary

Warning! Spoilers ahead for My Adventures with Superman #2!I can’t tell you how surprised I am that an unexpectedSupermanvillain has returned decades after one of his last appearances. The newMy Adventures with Supermancomichas done some deep dives into the Man of Steel’s history, but this most recent pull is going to surprise even hardcore DC stans.

InMy Adventures with Superman #2by Josie Campbelland Pablo Collar, the Daily Planet crew is out to rescue the Amazo robot that was apprehended by the government. Lois uses her military contacts to get them inside the Mt. Simonson base and Clark tries to use his powers to determine where Amazo is.

Superman’s Old Enemy Dr. Killgrave Returns inMy Adventures with Superman’sContinuity

If you’re a Superman fan like I am, you’ve probably seenMy Adventures with Superman. And if you’re a comic book geek, you probably know there’s a book set in between the show’s first two seasons. I was looking forward to this book before it finally came out and I was overjoyed when it finally did. Not only did it capture the same charming and funny vibe as the Adult Swim series, but it also introduced characters that hadn’t been seen in the show yet. In addition to Amazo,we got the classic Superman foe Bloodsport in the comic’s first issue.

Don’t get me wrong, Killgrave’s not exactly a one-off villain, but he’s far from the infamy of bad guys like Bizarro or Metallo. I would have been shocked if a D-lister like Prankster had shown up, but never did I see Killgrave coming back to be a part of theMy Adventures with Superman canon. He barely has a couple dozen appearances throughout DC history, so he’s unlikely to be noticed by anyone except the biggest Superman fans. That said, I think it’s quite coolthe creative team thought this Superman foe was worthy of bringing back for their story.

Every Part of Superman’s Continuity Has a Place inMy Adventures with Superman

If there’s one thing that’s clear, the creators behind theMy Adventures with Supermanshow and comic series love Superman’s lore and want to honor all of it. I surely never would have thought to bring Killgrave back when another mad scientist would have done just fine in this scene. But I’m glad to see the creative team finds value in all parts of the Man of Steel’s mythos and wants to find new places for it. I don’t know if we’ll be seeing Killgrave in anotherSupermanstory anytime soon, but it’s quite a sight to see him here.
