Our Take On Sweeney’s Christy Martin Biopic
Sweeney Seems Poised For Awards Recognition
Michôd has proven himself an interesting director in recent years, helming movies likeThe Rover(2014),War Machine(2017), andThe King(2019). The Martin biopic will seemingly be a departure from his past work, but his attempt to chronicle the life and military exploits of a young Henry V inThe Kingwas mostly successful, suggesting he’ll approach Martin’s life with a similar level of respect.
In addition to the Martin biopic, Sweeney is expected to reprise her role as Cassie inEuphoriaseason 3, which is expected to start filming in January 2025.
As for Sweeney, she continues to dazzle with an array of different roles in various genres, and the Martin biopic could end up being her ticket for major awards recognition. After standout performances inEuphoria,Reality, andImmaculate,it certainly seems like Oscars recognition is a matter of “when” and not “if” for her. It remains to be seen how the Martin biopic will fare with audiences and critics, but the latest images ofSweeneyare certainly reason to be excited about the film.
