Summary
TheWhite Collarrevival needs to answer a lingering mystery from the original show a decade after it concluded. Long before it had a resurgence after it returned on Netflix, talks of continuing Neal Caffrey and Peter Burke’s story were already going on. Now that aWhite Collarrevival is officially moving forward, series creator Jeff Eastin is excited to see where the new show will bring the beloved characters. While the USA Network series had a satisfying ending, there’s no scarcity of compelling storylines this new endeavor can tackle. However, there’s one particular mystery that it needs to address.
In theWhite Collarfinale, Neal and Peter teamed up to figure out the identities of the Pink Panthers and apprehend them, begrudgingly working with another conman, Matthew Keller. Unsurprisingly, things didn’t go according to plan. Keller was planning on double-crossing the duo. While Peter was able to take him down, it wasn’t until after the villain fatally shot Neal in the chest. In arguably the biggest twist in the show, however, the closing moments ofWhite Collarrevealed that Neal faked his death and escaped to Paris, but specifics of his plan weren’t shared.

Netflix’s Best Suits Replacement Already Has A Better Revival Plan Than Suits LA
Suits' best Netflix replacement show is officially getting a revival not long after it landed on the platform, and it’s so much better than Suits LA.
Mozzie Couldn’t Have Known Neal Faked His Death
Neal Likely Executed His Final Con Alone
It took years before Peter realized thatNeal faked his death in theWhite Collarfinale. However, while it was always clear that he was clueless about this, there were some questions about how Mozzie fit into the whole situation. Willie Garson’s fan-favorite character was Neal’s right hand for most of the show, and as a fellow con artist, they would regularly conspire with each other. Despite that, it didn’t seem like Mozzie knew about Neal’s plan to escape, which included faking his demise. His heartbreaking reaction to learning about the tragedy was a big indication.
Still, sinceWhite Collardidn’t show Mozzie actively working with Neal to hatch the plan, queries about his potential involvement are something that the revival should definitely address. This can be part of the new show catching viewers up with what everyone has been doing in the last decade since they were last on the screen. For what it’s worth, it did seem like Mozzie also learned the truth about Neal’s death around the same time that Peter did.

How The White Collar Reboot Can Answer This Question
Mozzie Could Have Revealed Himself If He Was Part Of Neal’s Fake Death Plan
Unfortunately, theWhite Collarrevival will have to be a bit more creative when addressing this matter. Sadly,Garson passed away in 2021, which means that the new show will miss Mozzie’s presence. Eastin and the rest of the original cast promised that both the character and the actor would be honored in the project, and one way to do that is to clarify how involved he was in Neal’s final con.
Ideally, Mozzie would be there to explain, and he could do it in his signature storytelling style. That said, Bomer can do an expository monologue explaining how he really executed his plan, including who knew about it. This can even be tied toWhite Collardealing with the fate of Mozzie, which could be the central case for Neal and Peter’s reunion.
