A historically reliable source claims theNintendo Switch 2could be officially revealed as soon as this week. With the 2024 holiday season come and gone,Switch 2 rumors have reached a fever pitch. Many players are insistent that the console is coming out this year, and while Nintendo hasn’t confirmed anything about the hardware or its release date, it did confirm that more information about the Switch 2 will be made available before the current fiscal year. That gives us a deadline of Summer 2025, but one leaker suggests the Switch 2 news could be coming a lot sooner.

Speaking on his podcast, often reliable leakerNate The Hatesuggested thatthe Switch 2 might be revealed in a surprise presentation by Nintendo on January 16- just four days away at the time of writing. This is based on what Nate calls “incomplete” information from an insider, who apparently knows what’s coming next for Nintendo. Nate has correctly revealed similar release and announcementd dates for major games and consoles, so he’s commonly considered a reliable source - but what else does he know about the Switch 2?

Nate The Hate Podcast States The Reveal Of The Switch 2 Is Coming

What To Expect From A Switch 2 Reveal

The Switch 2 reveal will supposedly take place on January 16, and, in usual Nintendo fashion, would likely be announced just a day or two before. It’s unknown whether this would take place in a live event like a Nintendo Direct, or whether it’d be revealed in a trailer. However, Nate The Hate suggests thatthe Switch 2reveal probably won’t be part of a larger show; even if it is a Direct, it’ll focus almost solely on the Switch 2.

There are many features the Switch 2 desperately needs to implement, but there is one almost cut from the Switch that needs to see a major comeback.

Crucially, Nate also claims that the initial reveal won’t include anygames for the Switch 2. Per his interpretation, that meansthe reveal will focus entirely on discussing the Switch 2’s hardware; while a couple of games might be shown incidentally, the main purpose is expected to be an exploration of the Switch 2’s components and features.

In addition,Nate projects a May or June release date for the Switch 2. There would likely be more information revealed in various trailers and livestreams between now and then, including during Nintendo’s traditional February Direct.
