The Sims’ 25th anniversary is coming up on June 28, 2025, and the best way EA can celebrate this milestone isby re-releasing the original game. EA has already announced that it is going all in onThe Sims 4and will be used as the basis forthe upcomingSimsUniverse project. This essentially dashed many fans’hopes of a potentialSims 5which could have possibly reintroduced some of the features from olderSimsgames that are missing fromSims 4.

Although bringing back a 25-year-old game may not immediately seem like a way to address these issues, it would be a smart move for EA. Re-releasingThe Simswouldn’t just give players a way to re-experience the old features they miss inThe Sims 4, but it would also allow EA to show theSimscommunity that the company is aware of what they want. Now that it’s getting harder and harder to play the originalThe Sims, this would likely also be a smart move on the company’s part to avoid players resorting to unofficial versions they find online.

It doesn’t seem unreasonable to believe that at least some of these players would be interested in trying the game out for themselves. Sims 1 Has Lots Of Features Later Games Lack

Players Miss The Random Events And Better Expansions

One thingSims 4players would probably love aboutThe Simsis its difficulty. There are plenty of player-made challenges dedicated to makingThe Sims 4harder to play, but this was never an issue inThe Sims.Just trying to survive could be a challenge inThe Sims, forcing players to do things like sell sections of their walls, so their Sims can afford to buy a snack out of their own refrigerator.Simsfans who enjoy an extra challenge would likely love a chance to try out this more difficult version of the game.

Aside from the difficulty,The Simsalso had some specific gameplay features that aren’t part ofThe Sims 4.One feature players miss from the original game is burglaries, where a masked bandit would break into their homes. Players would need to get a burglary alarm or quickly have their Sim call the police to stop their items being stolen. The game also had some strange quirks, like random threatening phone calls that added to the game’s strange charm.

10 Features That Would Be Awesome If Bands Are Coming To The Sims 4

The Sims 4 doesn’t yet have bands as a feature, but a recent tease has fans speculating. Here’s what we’d want to see from bands in The Sims 4.

Many players also lament the loss ofThe Sims’ better expansion packs. UnlikeThe Sims 4expansions, where themed objects are spread across Expansion Packs, Game Packs, and Stuff Packs, expansions forThe Simswere more comprehensive. For example,The Sims Makin’ Magicincluded all aspects ofThe Sims’ supernatural side, unlikeThe Sims 4which portioned things out across several expansion and game packs likeThe Sims 4 VampiresandThe Sims 4 Werewolves.

Sims 1 Is All But Unplayable

The Sims 1 Is Not Available Digitally

BecauseThe Simswas never released digitally, it can be very difficult to play in 2024. Even if players still have a computer with a CD Drive, they need to track down an old version of the game with an active product key. Otherwise, players need to resort to unofficial digital versions of questionable legality. Both of these problems could be easily fixed by EA re-releasing the game for its 25th Anniversary.

The Simsisn’t unique in this issue. There are plenty of older games that are becoming more difficult to play. There are a lot of old console games that were never released digitally or are only available through something likea Nintendo Switch Online subscriptionbut can’t be owned. A re-release ofThe Simswould be a step in the right direction for giving players access to some of these lost games.
