Despite only appearing in five episodes ofResident Alienso far, there’s a character who can return in the upcoming season and make a huge impact based on his past appearances. They may not be a major part of theResident Aliencast, but their character is overdue a dramatic comeback after being absent from season 3. In fact, given the drama ofResident Alienseason 3’s ending, a shock return for the character in question could be just what the show needs to push the next batch of episodes over the edge.

Michael Cassidy unconscious as Dr. Ethan Stone in Resident Alien

Michael Cassidy’s Dr. Ethan Stone Wasn’t Killed Off In Resident Alien Season 2

Ethan was hooked on drugs and abandoned in New Mexico

After some crossed wires and misinterpreted intel, Michael Cassidy’s Dr. Ethan Stone was abducted by the government inResident Alienseason 1, with his imprisoners falsely believing he is the alien they are searching for. After his disappearance, he appears very rarely in the show and is always incarcerated during his scenes. However, when General McCallister (Linda Hamilton) hurls him from a cliff inResident Alienseason 2, episode 11, “The Weight,” with an Alien Ball in his hand to test its efficacy,Ethan’s survival is rewarded with being dumped in an alleyway in Albuquerque.

The implication of Ethan’s exit is that he was forcibly injected with heroin or another addictive narcotic.

The implication of Ethan’s exit is that he was forcibly injected with heroin or another addictive narcotic. So, he’s either likely to spend the rest of his days looking for his next fix, or he’ll die in the process. Either outcome serves the government, as it keeps their secrets safe. The most important takeaway from this is that Ethan was not killed off in Cassidy’s last episode. If his story was truly over and showrunner Chris Sheridan had no plans for Ethan to return,a more finite option would surely have been to have Ethan executedby the government.

How Ethan Could Come Back In Resident Alien Season 4

Harry could have another new nemesis in the upcoming season

Although guilty of the odd humblebrag,Cassidy’sResident Aliencharacter was generally quite wholesome and likableas one ofPatience’s revolving door of town doctors. Unfortunately, after his more recent experiences and what he’s been subjected to, it’s unlikely that his charming demeanor has survived. So, if he were to return inResident Alienseason 4, it would make sense for him to come back as a villain rather than returning to his original role.

Resident Alien Season 4 Gives Alan Tudyk A Rare Career Credit He Hasn’t Had For Almost A Decade

Alan Tudyk’s workload on Resident Alien is set to increase when the sci-fi dramedy returns, meaning he’ll be slipping back into an old role.

Ethan is smart, so it won’t take a great deal of pondering for him to figure out why he was taken. The government was told Patience’s town doctor was an alien, and they took Ethan shortly after. So, Cassidy’s character will only need to turn to the figure who filled that position before him - Alan Tudyk’s Harry Vanderspeigle, to work out who the real target was. Filled with rage about what happened to him, Ethan could easily be the grounded villainResident Alienseason 4 needs, while Harry and the others also tend off the Grey Aliens and the Mantid.
