Today’sConnectionspuzzle is something else, for many different reasons, and it may prove to be quite challenging. There are several key points that you will have to get if you don’t want to stumble too much.It would be extremely easy to waste a lot of guesses in this puzzle, so you need to pay closer attention than usual to get through this one. Luckily, I can help you do exactly that with the usual tips and tricks so you’re able to make your way to victory.

If you want to try a different kind of puzzle, theNYT’sStrandsgameis one I really like. It has a nice hint of nostalgia to it, while also just being quite fun to solve. I even prefer it toConnectionson some days,as it doesn’t feel as stressful because I can keep guessing until I get it right. While I do prefer to not use hints if possible, I feel like I’ve earned those hints because I have found other words in the puzzle, and sometimes that’s what you need to get the key to the puzzle.

Today’s Connections Category Hints

MARCH 18 #646

If you need some hints, which you likely do for this one, you can get what you need from the clues below. However,I’ve changed up the usual formula a little bit, because of the nature of this particular puzzle. The last two categories are very much interconnected, so you will need to take that into account while solving the puzzle. However, that doesn’t make the first two categories easy. The clues for this puzzle are:

The Spelling Bee puzzles created as a New York Times game build a streak of correct answers to get you more points, but they can be hard to keep.

you may get the remaining hints from the boxes belowwhich house the category names. Two of them are very long today, which will make the boxes look less pleasing than I want them to, but alas. If you still need more hints, continue on to the spoilers.

SPECIAL

UNIQUE

This is the only category that stands out as completely UNIQUE, much like its theme, and the one that I think most people will have the easiest time with. None of these words are disguising themselves in such a wayas to belong to another category. With that in mind, you will likely want to get this one out of the way so that you can focus more on how the other categories interact, which is exactly what I did.

KINDER

WURST

This one was a little harder. DIE can easily get wrapped up into the other words in the puzzle, and I think depending on your knowledge of German - or if you look these words up,KINDER could also end up in the other categories as it is also a plural form. However, it does stand out as not looking anything like English, which is helpful for us. Unfortunately, DIE does not come off as German immediately when you look at it. I got lucky that I guessed this word and not others as not English.

5 Letter Words Wordle Hasn’t Used Yet (Updated Daily)

Wordle, the popular word-guessing game hosted by The New York Times, has over 1,700 words remaining as possible solutions.

SHRIMP

SQUID

Here was where things started to get quite hard to separate things out. All of these are plural, and so are all the next words, and there are two plurals in the previous category. That can make it hard to decide what belongs where. Assuming you figured out which words were German, you then still have to separate out the rest.I think the main key is figuring out what the grammatical difference is before you attempt to solve the puzzle, but recognizing that all of these are singular forms as well might be hard for many.

MICE

OXEN

DICE and DIE are the really obvious forms that aren’t super helpful, but OXEN is also a stumbling block here. That’s ignoring all the rest of the words in the puzzle, but I think it is still doable.I wasn’t super surprised when I saw the category names for the last two, as that was how I started to separate them out on my own. However, not everyone has studied grammar in a few different languages, so I don’t know that everyone would have that instinct.
