What The Tom Welling’s Superman Art Means For Smallville’s Legacy

As Welling has played the DC icon longer than any otheractor who has played Superman in live-action,it’s no wonder thatSmallvillefans are still showing their dedication to the series, whether it’s through conventions or fan-art pieces. For a whole decade, fans got to follow Clark’s journey of becoming Superman, while also seeing a different take on the DC lore, especially during a time when superhero movies and TV shows were extremely limited. That is also why theSmallvilleseries finale was such a massive full-circle moment, as it completed Clark’s arc.

What artworks like this new one of Welling as Superman also indicate is thatSmallvillefans are definitely wanting to see more of his iteration of the DC superhero in one way or another. In the current age of TV revivals and sequels,a popular show likeSmallvillewould fit into this era where beloved series get to come back, even for a limited run. That is why there have been so many questions about Welling and Michael Rosenbaum’sSmallvilleanimated sequel show.

Our Take On The Smallville Art

Seeing how amazing Welling would look as Superman through the newSmallvilleartonly makes the idea of a sequel more desirable, as a continuation could properly explore his adventures as the Man of Tomorrow. Since DC Studios is focused on getting their new Superman reboot in James Gunn’s DC Universe set up, it may be some time untilSmallvillecan get a chance at a revival. Hopefully, once Gunn’s DCU has gotten up and running, more progress will be made on theSmallvilleanimated sequel, allowing Welling to return as his Superman.
