She rejected her beautiful, smart and charismatic daughter-in-law from the get-go.Not once did she consider how bad it would feel to be put down by her husband’s parents.Kim’s empathy is possibly non-existent.
It’s not such a stretch to think that something’s wrong, such as narcissistic personality disorder. However, that is for a psychiatrist to decide. The thing is, narcissists are usually resistant to therapy because they believe they are perfect and awesome. Nonetheless, Kim might benefit from talking through her problems with a psychologist or psychiatrist.

While people mayblame Olivia for leaving him, they should point the finger elsewhere, straight at the Plath matriarch, who is getting weirder by the minute during her intense whirlwind of a midlife crisis. She’s living on a boat that can’t actually be taken anywhere - she calls it a houseboat, but it’s just a broken boat. It’s cramped, everyone needs to go onto dry land to shower…it’s not a proper home.

They always had to change themselves to get love, and sometimes nothing they did was good enough.
