The events ofAndorseason 2 are going to be set across the four years ahead ofRogue OneandA New Hope. As a result, it’s understandable if some fans are wondering where original trilogy characters are during this period, and if we might see them in the upcomingStar Warsshow. However, many of these characters were quite busy during the last few years ahead of the Rebel Alliance’s formation and declaration of war against the Empire.
As seen inAndorseason 1, the Rebels are still split up among various independent cells, who have yet to come together as a true Alliance. Instead, this is something that will be happening inAndorseason 2’s 12 episodes, with every three episodes covering one of the four years leading up toRogue OneandA New Hope.Keeping that in mind, here’s whatStar Wars’original trilogy characters were up to in the four years before the Battle of Yavin.

7Obi-Wan Kenobi
A Hermit on Tatooine
Having been watching over Luke Skywalker since the day of his birth at the end ofStar Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith,Obi-Wan Kenobi was a hermit on Tatooine in the four years beforeRogue Oneand during the events ofAndorseason 2. While he did leave Tatooine in 9BBY, it was only to save Leia Organa, Luke’s sister, as seen in 2022’sObi-Wan Kenobiseries. That said, Obi-Wan’s life of seclusion on the desert world was hardly uneventful.
During this period, just beforeRogue OneandA New Hope,Obi-Wan Kenobi had two major encounters. Not only did he get to meet the young Jedi Ezra Bridger, but Kenobi also dueled Maul for the very last time, as seen inRebelsseason 3. Continuing to watch over Luke, the odds are pretty low that Obi-Wan would make an appearance inAndorseason 2.

6Luke Skywalker
Moisture Farming On Tatooine
Having yet to receive the calling to become a Jedi,Luke Skywalker was presumably still wishing for a life of adventure and one day joining the academy while working at his Uncle Owen’s moisture farm. Having been shown as a small silhouette inStar WarsRebelsseason 3 following Obi-Wan’s duel with Maul, Luke has yet to join the greater galaxy at this point in theStar Warstimeline. As such, the odds of Luke making an appearance inAndorseason 2 are virtually zero.
5Leia Organa
Becoming A Princess/Working With The Rebellion
Conversely,Leia Organa has a much higher chance of having a cameo inAndorseason 2 compared to her brother. By 3BBY, Leia had her coronation on Alderaan, becoming an official princess. However, she also covertly delivered three Hammerhead corvettes to the rebel cells known as Phoenix Squadron during the same year. These were the same corvettes that would be used to great effect inRogue One’sBattle of Scarif.
Andor Season 2: Trailer, Story, Updates, & Everything We Know
Andor season 1 ended with an explosive finale, leading many to wonder what season 2 has in store for the characters of Star Wars’ most exciting show.
Leia is already an active member and Rebellion leader during this period. As such, it wouldn’t be surprising if she made an appearance alongside her father, Bail Organa, who was instrumental in bringing the various cells together into a true Alliance. That said, the real question is if a Leia cameo would be done digitally or simply with a younger actor bearing a resemblance to Carrie Fisher in the 1970s.

4Han Solo & Chewbacca
Smugglers Working For Jabba the Hutt
At the end ofSolo: A Star Wars Story, Han Solo partners with Chewbacca and the pair get their hands on Lando Calrissian’sMillennium Falcon. However, the events of the movie take place much earlier than the events ofAndorseason 2 in 10BBY, around the same time asObi-Wan Kenobi. To that end,Han Solo and Chewbacca are presumably continuing to work as smugglers for Jabba the Huttduring this time, as evidenced by a recent canonical comic where they were hired to steal an urn from none other than Grand Moff Tarkin.
3Darth Vader
Hunting The Spectres
In the four years beforeRogue OneandA New Hope, Darth Vader was all kinds of busy. In 3BBY, the Dark Lord of the Sith was tasked by the Emperor with hunting down Rebel cells along with his Inquisitors, specifically the Spectres' Jedi duo Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger. However, this also led toDarth Vader’s discovery that Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker’s former apprentice, still lived, and the two dueled on the ancient Sith world of Malachor, as seen inStar Wars Rebelsseason 2.
“There is technically still a chance Vader could make an appearance inAndorseason 2…”

In 2BBY, Emperor Palpatine puts Darth Vader and Grand Admiral Thrawn on a mission together that takes them to the Outer Rim world of Batuu in the novelThrawn Alliances, echoing their previous encounter years prior during the Clone Wars when Vader was still Anakin Skywalker. In 1BBY, Darth Vader tries yet again to resurrect his deceased wife Padmé Amidala, as seen in theVader ImmortalVR game. That said, there is technically still a chance Vader could make an appearance inAndorseason 2.
2Grand Moff Tarkin
Tracking Rebel Cells
Much like Darth Vader,Grand Moff Tarkin was also busy tracking down Rebel cells, including Phoenix Squadron and The Spectres. He was also instrumental in enlisting the services of Grand Admiral Thrawn and the Seventh Fleet who took the lead in locating and tracking down the Rebels and their attempts to liberate the world of Lothal. Tarkin was also the key decision maker regarding whether the Empire would continue to invest inThrawn’s TIE Defender proposal, or continue to support Project Stardust aka the construction of the first Death Star which was being overseen by Director Krennic.
The 10 Greatest Moments From Star Wars' Best TV Show To Get You Ready For Season 2
Andor season 1 is one of Star Wars’ best shows, and with season 2 on the horizon it’s worth a look back at the best season 1 moments…
As seen at the end ofRebelsand inRogue One, Grand Moff Tarkin ultimately chose Stardust and took over the project from Krennic once it was clear that the battle station was going to be effective. It’s also worth noting that Director Krennic himself is set to be featured inAndorseason 2. As such, perhaps Tarkin may be featured as well, working with the Imperial Security Bureau to track down more Rebel cells like Saw Gerrera’s Partisans, or bring in Luthen Rael aka “Axis”.
1Emperor Palpatine
Ruling The Empire/Seeking Greater Power
It would be surprising for Emperor Palpatine to make an appearance inAndorseason 2, though it’s not entirely impossible. During this period, Palpatine was ruling his Empire while dealing with the facade that was the Imperial Senate (which had yet to be fully dissolved in favor of power instead going to regional governors). However,Star Wars Rebelsalso shows that Palpatine was constantly seeking greater power. This notably includes Palpatine’s attempt to use both Ahsoka and Ezra to access the vengeance scatter known as theWorld Between Worlds and its access to multiple points across time and space.
Not only did Palpatine try to access the vergence inRebelsseason 4, but he also tried to corrupt Ezra in the final episodes of the series, having salvaged the remnants of the Lothal Jedi temple as a means to have a personal gateway to the entireStar Warstimeline. Regardless, one could imagine a brief scene inAndorseason 2 where Palpatine’s hologram is shown speaking with ISB’s Major Lio Partagaz and/or Colonel Yularen about the growing pockets of resistance across his Empire.
The first three episodes ofAndorseason 2 are set to premiere April 22nd on Disney+.
