Warning: This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along episode 6, “Familiar By Thy Side.”
Three years after his departure from theMCU, Billy Maximoff has returned inAgatha All Along, but the Scarlet Witch’s other son, Tommy Maximoff, is still nowhere to be seen.Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s powerful sonswere first seen inWandaVisionepisode 3, “Now in Color,” and had the chance to show off some of their impressive gifts during the Phase 4 series. Since they were magically connected to the Hex, however, the twins disappeared when the Westview Anomaly was dismantled, leaving the MCU futures of Wiccan and Speed uncertain.

InWandaVision,Tommy Maximoff was portrayed by Gavin Borders as a five-year-old and Jett Klyne at ten, opposite Baylen Bielitz and Julian Hilliard’s Billy Maximoff. Klyne reprised the role alongside Hilliard in 2022’sDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessas variants on Earth-838, but the Scarlet Witch’s twins on Earth-616 were seemingly killed off inWandaVision.Agatha All Alongepisode 6, “Familiar By Thy Side,” has completely changed the game, however, as it’s now very possibleTommy Maximoff could return to the MCU.
Agatha All Along Sets Up The Return Of Both Of The Scarlet Witch’s Sons
Joe Locke Portrays Billy Maximoff In Agatha All Along
WhenHeartstopperstar Joe Locke was first cast inAgatha All Along, theories emerged suggesting he could have been playing Billy Kaplan, Marvel Comics' young superhero Wiccan who is the reincarnated form of Billy Maximoff. These theories persisted throughoutAgatha All Along’sfirst few episodes, with Locke’s “Teen” keeping his identity secret until episode 5, “Darkest Hour, Wake Thy Power.” This episode confirmedJoe Locke is the MCU’s Wiccan, andepisode 6 revealed more about his change from William Kaplan to Billy Maximoff.
Billy and Tommy Maximoff first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1986’sThe Vision and the Scarlet Witch #12, but were later reincarnated into Billy Kaplan and Tommy Shepherd in 2005’sYoung Avengersseries.

Now thatBilly Maximoff has returned to the MCU, the door is wide open for Tommy to follow suit. In fact,Agatha All Alongepisode 6 confirmed that Billy’s objective on the Witches' Road is to find the location of his lost brother, as the Road promises to give a successful witch that which is missing. It’s yet to be revealed exactly how the magically-created Billy could inhabit William Kaplan’s empty body - dead after a car accident previously mentioned by Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness - but this certainly hints at Tommy also survivingWandaVision’sfinale.
What Happened To Tommy’s Soul?
Tommy Maximoff Disappeared At The End Of WandaVision
WandaVisionepisode 3, the 1970s-themed “Now in Color,” marked the birth of Wanda Maximoff and Vision’s twins. Unlike other inhabitants of Westview, Billy and Tommy had no human alter egos outside the Hex. This meant that they ceased to exist when the Hex was brought down inWandaVision’sfinale, and it was assumed that this destroyed both their physical bodies and their “souls,” as they never truly existed anyway.Agatha All Alongconfirmed that this wasn’t the case, however, asBilly’s soul inhabited the body of William Kaplan, so Tommy’s could have done something similar.
What Happened To Scarlet Witch’s Sons After WandaVision?
Agatha All Along raises the idea of Scarlet Witch’s sons being alive via Wiccan, begging the question of what previously happened to them in the MCU.
In Marvel Comics, Tommy Maximoff is reincarnated as Thomas “Tommy” Shepherd, who exhibits speedster abilities like his uncle,Pietro Maximoff’s Quicksilver, and becomes the Young Avenger known as Speed. Since the MCU’s Billy Maximoff has followed his Marvel Comics storyline, taking over the body of William Kaplan,it seems likely that Tommy Maximoff’s soul will end up in the body of Thomas Shepherd. Shepherd’s whereabouts, history and future, however, are still yet to be revealed.

Where Tommy Could Return In The MCU
Tommy Maximoff’s Return Is All But Inevitable Now
Joe Locke’s Billy Maximoff is on a quest to find his missing brother inAgatha All Along, soit seems very possible that Tommy Maximoff, perhaps in Tommy Shepherd’s body, could make his MCU debut in the Phase 5 series. There are three episodes ofAgatha All Alongyet to be released, though this could mean that Tommy’s return would be too rushed. Instead, Tommy Maximoff could return in theMCU’s upcomingVisionseries,WandaVision’ssecond spinoff, which could see the twins reunite with their father, and perhaps even the Scarlet Witch herself.
