Warning: Spoilers for My Hero Academia: You’re Next aheadMy Hero Academia: You’re Nextimmediately drew a lot of attention for its villain, who appears to be identical to All Might. Dubbed “Dark Might” within the film, this doppelganger has a rather surprising origin story that merits a little explanation.
Dark Might is first introduced watching All for One and All Might’s battle in Kamino Ward during season 3, and unsurprisingly misconstruing All Might’s declaration of “Next, it’s your turn.” Even at this early stage,Dark Might already has All Might’s face and physique, and seems to be extremely obsessed with him. The movie skips ahead to the present-day of season 7, where Deku and the rest of Class 1-A are busy chasing down jailbreakers, until encountering a man whose Quirk seems absurdly powerful, carrying a mysterious girl as a hostage. Dark Might shows up and defeats this villain with excessive force.

Dark Might is a Member of a European Crime Family
Dark Might is eventually revealed to be, in truth, a man by the name of Voldo Gallini, the current head of the Gallini crime family, a mafia-style organization that is said to be the largest criminal group in Europe. Voldo Gallini didn’t always look like All Might; instead, it’s shown that he used his Quirk, Alchemy, to change his face and body to resemble All Might’s, seemingly just because he’s such a big fan. In the absence of the Symbol of Peace, Dark Might decided he would move into Japan and become its new savior, but he really doesn’t understand heroics.
Dark Might’s Quirk, Alchemy, allows him to transform basically anything into anything else by using a catalyst, which in his case is almost always a golden coin. However, what makes Dark Might truly dangerous is the mysterious girl he “rescued,” who was actually his prisoner first. This girl, Anna Scervino, has a Quirk which can enhance the abilities of anyone considered compatible with her, raising the power of their Quirk to unimaginable levels. Using the power granted by Anna, Dark Might is able to pull off All Might-esque feats, as well as transform the city into his personal floating fortress.

Everything You Need To Know About My Hero Academia: You’re Next
My Hero Academia: You’re Next is the newest film from the famous superhero anime/manga franchise, and here’s what fans need to know before seeing it.
Dark Might takes his role asAll Might’s successor very seriously, but his criminal background precludes him from being able to actually behave like All Might would, using excessive violence and attacking without concern for civilians. He comes up with the name Dark Might while speaking to All Might over a video call, after realizing he wouldn’t receive the real All Might’s blessing. Dark Might continues to experiment on the civilians who’ve been swept up into his fortress, hoping they will be compatible with Anna and turn into warriors on his side.
At the end of the film, Dark Might is affected by Anna’s power as it runs out of control, turning him into a monstrous figure which the heroes must defeat. After being defeated, the modifications he made to his face are undone, revealing his true appearance as Voldo Gallini. Voldo is shown to have even killed his own father, seizing control of the crime family and using them to aid in his goal of conquering Japan. Truly a despicable figure, Dark Might is no longer capable of posing a threat by the end ofMy Hero Academia: You’re Next.
